Frequently asked questions
Who prepares and files my return?
An experienced, IRS-registered tax preparer personally prepares, reviews, signs, and files every return. We use secure, professional technology to keep your documents organized and your filing accurate — a real professional always does and checks the work.
Can I file completely remotely?
Yes. Complete intake and upload documents securely from your phone; a preparer can complete your return remotely. In-person, phone, and video options are also available.
How much does it cost?
Simple W-2 returns start at $50 and self-employed returns start at $150. Other returns are quoted after document review. We never base our fee on the size of your refund.
Is the refund advance guaranteed?
No. A refund advance is a loan from a third-party lender, subject to approval, eligibility, and terms. Not all clients qualify, and it is not the refund itself.
Are you a CPA or enrolled agent?
Returns are prepared by an IRS PTIN-registered preparer and human-reviewed before filing. We are not a CPA, EA, or law firm unless specifically stated.
What documents do I need?
It depends on your situation — your guided intake builds a personalized checklist. Common items: photo ID, SSN/ITIN, W-2s, 1099s, 1095-A, dependent info, prior-year return, and business records.
How will I know my return’s status?
You’ll get updates at each stage: intake received, missing documents, in review, signature needed, and filed.
Do you handle prior years and IRS letters?
Yes — amendments, prior-year filings, extensions, and IRS/state notice review are all available.
How long does it take?
Most returns move quickly once your documents are complete. Timing depends on document readiness, complexity, and IRS/state processing — and you get a status update at every stage.
What if I’m missing a document, like a W-2?
Don’t wait — start anyway. We can often work from a final pay stub or prior records and tell you exactly what’s still needed.
Do you file state returns too?
Yes. We handle federal and state returns, including multi-state situations. State filings are factored into your quote.
Is my information kept private?
Yes. Your documents are uploaded through secure, encrypted methods, access is limited to who needs it, and we never sell your information.
Do I need to create an account or pay to start?
No. Starting your intake takes about 2 minutes, needs no account, and there’s no payment to begin — you get a clear quote before any work starts.
